New type semiconductor laser and multi-function photonic integration
——————- 2013-2017 National Natural Science Foundation
Purpose:Develop high-power, wavelength-tunable, high-speed modulation lasers for monolithic photonic integration to meet the growing bandwidth and capacity requirements of optical communications.
1. Combined with Comsol software simulation, a small-sized dual-mode laser with a variable curvature was proposed and developed.
2. Combined with the simulation of Matlab software, the systematic research on the arc-shaped multi-deformation microcavity is carried out. The guiding law of the chaos in arc-sides polygonal microcavity is found, and the fiber coupling efficiency of the microcavity laser exiting light is improved.
3. Nonlinear dynamics of a pair of microring lasers connected by waveguide are investigated numerically and experimentally. Four-wave mixing, injection locking and multi-period oscillation states are demonstrated for the twin lasers. Numerical simulation indicates the twin lasers coupled through the waveguide and the scattering field simultaneously.
high-speed pulsed photonic crystal laser based on coupled microcavity
—————— 2016-2019 Natural Science Fund Project
Purpose:developing high-speed pulsed photonic crystal laser capable of generating high-speed laser signals and applicable to on-chip optical clock generation. A solid foundation for on-chip integration of high-speed microcavity photonic devices.
1. I mainly undertake the theoretical and simulation work in the project. The rate equation of the coupled cavity is obtained from the Heisenberg equation of motion. Different from the traditional mode-locking mechanism using saturable absorption, the new Q-switching mechanism caused by the detuning of the coupling cavity during laser operation is proposed. The feasibility of the pulsed laser is theoretically proved.
Tunable topology in photonic crystal
——————————-2019-now IFW excellence programme
Purpose:investigating the topological boundary states and the topological phase transitions of topological photonic crystals (TPCs)
